Our main goal at Heart of Vinings Dentistry is to educate you about your oral health and how it affects your overall health. This way we are at the forefront of any problems that could potentially arise.
Our preventative care model is not only in our office every six months. Our goal is to have a team effort with you to create an efficient home care routine coupled with your professional cleanings by our talented team. During your routine appointment, look forward to a revitalizing cleaning, thorough dental exam, and, when needed, digital x-rays.
Regular visits can substantially reduce the likelihood of oral health problems that may lead to more expensive treatments. Our ultimate goal is to PREVENT the disease to keep you smiling and stunning forever!
At your first visit, a full set of all digital x-rays will be taken and Dr. Patel will conduct a comprehensive exam. The reason for this exam is to accurately diagnose any form of gum disease and chart any teeth that need some extra attention.
Studies have proven that gum disease has an effect on total body health and has been shown to have effects on heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and even respiratory disease. This is why routine exams are of the utmost importance.
Dr. Patel will thoroughly explain his diagnosis with numerous visual aids to help you understand everything about your oral health. He will also recommend the type of cleaning that he feels is best for you.
Brushing and flossing remove most buildup on your teeth. However, over time, the buildup that isn’t removed by home care hardens onto your teeth. This is called tartar. Once this tartar forms, it takes special instruments and our highly trained hygienists to remove it.
When tartar is not removed regularly, it affects the health of your gums and tooth-supporting bone. This chronic infection is known as periodontitis (perio-don-titis).
There are multiple severities of periodontitis and Dr. Patel will fully explain these to you.
At this time, Dr. Patel will recommend a deeper cleaning to remove the tartar more effectively. Our hygienists will spend extra time with you to gently remove this tartar and smooth the surfaces of the tooth to create a healthier environment for your gums and bone.
Dr. Patel and his team will work with you to create a great home care system and may recommend shorter interval recall to keep an eye on any progression of the gum disease. He will move you to a more routine recall system as your symptoms stabilize.
Dental Sealants are “raincoats” for your back teeth. Sometimes, your molars (back teeth) have development grooves that are too deep for your toothbrush to reach. Dental sealants are placed in these grooves to block bacteria from invading this space. Dental sealants are TOTALLY PAINLESS and super easy to apply. Ask our staff if you qualify for sealants at your next visit!
Fluoride is one of the most effective ways to keep your teeth healthy and strong enough to combat cavities. We like to refer to fluoride as vitamins for your teeth. We ingest fluoride regularly in our drinking water; however, a regular topical application of fluoride at your cleanings can help your teeth resist the effects of the plaque, bacteria, acids, and sugars your teeth are exposed to everyday.
Please contact our Vinings dentist office to schedule your next cleaning or your new patient exam.
